SUPPORT – WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Support to carry all or part of the weight of; keep from falling or sinking or failing; enable to last out; give strength to.

That’s the dictionary definition and that’s what we want to achieve with the work that we do. But we can’t achieve it without being supported ourselves, by wonderful members of the public and local organisations, who are tireless in raising money for us or offering us sponsorship.

Our heartfelt thanks to all of you, from the bars and shops that place our collection tins and sell our badges on their counters, to those who will do the maddest things to raise money for us – we salute you all!

It’s sometimes difficult to ask for help or support; most of us have been raised to be self-sufficient and keep a ‘stiff upper lip’. The good thing about MABS is that most of our volunteers have been touched by cancer and have a good idea what callers are going through. We respect a person’s privacy so we’re not pushy and we don’t impose – if you don’t want to do something, we won’t labour the point – it’s your life and your decision. But, if you need us, we’ll be right by your side, every step of the way.

So, don’t be afraid to get in touch, no matter how nervous you are or how small you think your request is – help is just a phone call away.
